What is "door to door"
service?
We offer a service where we pick up the
vehicle from your home or business and drop it off at another
home or business. Some companies offer depot to depot which
can be cheaper but this means that you need to organise your
own travel to and from the depot. If you do not yet have a
firm destination point, discuss this with us and perhaps we
can offer you an alternative.
Can I put personal belongings in the
car?
Yes. Some car carriers don't allow
personal belongings in the vehicle. We do, although there are
some conditions:
- The belongings in the car must not reach higher than the
windows.
- There are some weight restrictions i.e. you can't
transport the engine of another car in the boot!
- Whilst your car is covered by transit insurance, NO
personal belongings inside the car are covered.
Is my car insured?
In most
cases your car is insured during transit. There are some
exceptions to this and we can discuss with you. The conditions
are also listed on the survey form that you receive when we
pick your car up.
Is the truck covered, or
open?
All our trucks are open. We do not
recommend that you place car covers on your vehicle as they
can damage the paint when travelling in an open truck. Our
trucks have stone guards and we take other precautions to
prevent damage to your vehicle during transit.
What payment options do you
offer?
We offer Cash on Delivery, Cash on
Pickup, Online Transfer and Bank Deposit. We also have credit
card facilities, but we do not accept AMEX or Diners Club.
There is also a 5% surcharge on credit card payments.
Do you move cars that don't
run?
We do move "non runners". In most cases
they need to be a rolling shell, meaning they must at least
have a steering wheel and wheels. If they do not have these
then a forklift must be available at both ends to load and
unload the vehicle.
Can I pick the day it will be picked up or
dropped off?
We build our runs according to
the jobs we have for that week. Before the truck departs for
that trip, we can give you the expected day of pickup and drop
off but until the truck actually leaves for that run these
days are always estimates only. We will try to fit in with you
wherever possible, and will also make suggestions of
alternative arrangements that you can make if you are not
present. We ask that our customers remember that we have up to
four other vehicles to deliver on a trip.
What happens if I cancel my
booking?
If you cancel a booking with enough
notice and we are able to fill the spot with another vehicle
then there will be no cost to you. If you give us late notice
and we are unable to finish the spot but we were already in
your city for another pickup or drop off then we will ask you
to pay $100 cancellation fee. If, however, we have
specifically travelled to your city (e.g. to Cairns from
Townsville) and there were no other vehicles to be picked up
or dropped off, then we will ask you to pay a penalty to cover
the cost of fuel to the driver who made that trip.
What if you can't move my car the week I need
it moved?
The more notice you give us, the
more likely we are to build our runs to suit your needs. If,
however, you need your car urgently or your car is the only
one going to one direction and we do not have enough vehicles
for that destination in the week you requested then we can
offer you a "farming out" service. Thsi involves us keeping
your booking, but making every effort to 'farm out' the job to
another company. In most cases, this works out fine however we
have little to no control over what happens with other
companies and therefore I would always recommend to a customer
that they wait the extra couple of days until we can take the
car ourselves.
How much notice do you
require?
The more notice you give us, the
more likely you are to have your car moved the way you want.
Quite often our runs for the following week are filled by
Friday. Some customers have been known to book four or more
weeks in advance and we love that! Of course we understand
that is not always possible, but certainly the more notice the
better.
Do you only move cars?
NO. We
move cars, 4WDs, caravans, boats, motorbikes, horse floats,
trailers. If you have a vehicle of some description that you
need moved then call us because we can probably move
it.
